13 April 2025: Woodlands Multispeciality Hospital commemorated World Health Day with a series of impactful initiatives across Kolkata, promoting preventive healthcare and holistic well-being.
At the Hindalco Regional Office, Dr Pushpita Mandal, Senior Consultant – Critical Care and Internal Medicine, led an engaging health talk followed by a dedicated health camp. Emphasising the vital role of hygiene, Dr Mandal illustrated how simple practices — like regular handwashing, oral care, and skincare — serve as powerful tools against disease. She advocated for preventive healthcare through early screenings for cardiovascular issues, diabetes, and cancer, which not only reduce medical complications but also make treatment more cost-effective. Dr Mandal also shed light on metabolic syndrome, highlighting the modern lifestyle factors contributing to its rise and the urgent need for healthier living.
Simultaneously, Dr Saptarshi Basu, associate consultant — general medicine and in-charge of Woodlands Home Care & health check-up, addressed the elderly members of Dignity Foundation’s Kolkata chapter. Commending their commitment to health and resilience, Dr Basu underscored the importance of regular health check-ups, identifying signs of diabetes, kidney, and cardiac conditions, and maintaining essential vitamin levels—especially Vitamin D in an increasingly indoor lifestyle.
Reflecting on the hospital’s mission, Mr Rupak Barua, MD & CEO, said, “World Health Day is more than a date on the calendar. It is a reminder of our collective responsibility to empower communities through awareness, early intervention, and compassionate care. At Woodlands, we are proud to lead this journey.”
Other notable World Health Day events included a health camp at Deshapriya Park, a talk by Dr Basu at the Woodlands Admission Lounge, a cardiac camp at Zee 24 Ghanta, a health check-up camp at SBI Alipore Branch, and a wellness talk by Dr Ishani R Chatterjee at CII titled "Harmony of Body and Soul."
