PNB MetLife enhances clean water access in Purulia district with solar-powered water points

28 March 2025: PNB MetLife, in collaboration with the Center for Environmental and Socio-economic Regeneration (CESR), inaugurated solar-powered water points in Madhupur village, Purulia district, marking a major step toward enhancing access to clean water. This initiative will benefit over 300 tribal families by providing a sustainable water source with a capacity of approximately 10,000 liters of clean water a day.

Villagers previously needed to walk up to 2.5 kilometers to fetch water. The newly-installed water sources offer a reliable and ecofriendly solution, reducing dependence on conventional power sources and easing the daily burden of water collection. Representatives from PNB MetLife, Bangiya Gramin Vikash Bank and CESR joined local Panchayat members and residents of Madhupur to celebrate this significant milestone in community development.

Sourabh Lohtia, Chief Marketing & Communications Officer at PNB MetLife, said, “During our efforts to raise awareness about menstrual hygiene among young girls in Purulia, we recognized that access to clean water—essential for health and hygiene—remained a significant challenge in the region. The solar-powered water points in Madhupur will help address this pressing need. We’re honored to partner with CESR on this initiative to drive meaningful, long-term change in the community.”
