March 20, 2025: Narayana Hospital, Guwahati, recently reaffirmed its commitment to kidney health by celebrating World Kidney Day 2025 with an awareness program aimed at educating the public about preventive measures and early detection of kidney diseases. The event brought together dialysis patients and their attendants, providing them with valuable insights and support.

As part of the initiative, the hospital conducted free kidney health screenings to detect early signs of kidney disease. Renowned nephrologists Dr. Bishal Agarwalla and Dr. Arunima Mahanta addressed the attendees, emphasising the importance of regular check-ups and preventive care. The event also featured healthy lifestyle awareness sessions, where experts guided participants on diet, exercise, and other lifestyle modifications essential for maintaining kidney health. Adding a personal touch to the occasion, dialysis patients shared their experiences, highlighting the significance of early diagnosis and medical intervention. Senior Doctors from urology, General Surgery, Cardiology, neurology of Narayana Hospital attended the program and provided valuable health tips on kidney care to the attendees.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Bishal Agarwalla said, “Kidney diseases are often silent killers, progressing unnoticed until they reach an advanced stage. Regular health check-ups, especially for individuals with risk factors like diabetes and hypertension, can make a significant difference in preventing kidney-related complications. Through this initiative, we hope to encourage people to take kidney health seriously and seek medical attention at the right time.”
Dr. Arunima Mahanta further emphasized the importance of awareness, stating, “Many kidney diseases can be prevented with simple lifestyle changes, including a balanced diet, adequate hydration, and regular physical activity. Unfortunately, due to a lack of awareness, people often ignore the early warning signs such as swelling, fatigue, and changes in urination. Our goal is to educate individuals so they can recognize these signs early and take proactive steps to safeguard their kidney health.”

Echoing this sentiment, Mr. Sagnik Saha, Facility Director of Narayana Hospital, Guwahati, stated, “At Narayana Hospital, Guwahati, we are dedicated to providing quality kidney care and ensuring that people have access to preventive and diagnostic services.
