Kolkata, 28th February 2025: The 9th World Food Competition, hosted by Guru Nanak Institute of Hotel Management (GNIHM)—a JIS Group Educational Initiative—concluded on a grand note its three-day long saga, celebrating the pinnacle of global culinary artistry. Held at the GNIHM campus, the prestigious competition brought together 160 chefs from 40 countries, competing across multiple categories, including the International Culinary Competition, International Fruit Carving Competition, International Mixocom Competition, and International Cake Icing Competition.
The event featured an esteemed panel of judges, comprising some of the most revered names in the culinary world. Indian culinary stalwarts Sanjeev Kapoor, Kunal Kapur, Ajay Chopra, and Parvinder Singh Bali were joined by renowned international chefs Annanchai Suttision (Thailand) and Lesley Jacob (South Africa), whose expertise and discerning evaluations elevated the competition to an exceptional standard.
The three-day culinary extravaganza showcased remarkable craftsmanship, creativity, and innovation, reaffirming the competition’s stature as a premier global gastronomic event. Participants not only demonstrated their technical prowess but also embraced sustainable practices, highlighting the importance of ethical and responsible approaches in the food industry.
Among them, the best chef for culinary competition was awarded to Borodina Viktoria, Russia; best cake icing chef was awarded to Nagoda Vithanage Rashmi Randika, Srilanka; best fruit carving chef was awarded to Santa Maya Lumbanreja, Indonesia and best mixology chef was awarded to Yanish Bandhoo, Mauritius.
The competition concluded with a grand felicitation ceremony, acknowledging the outstanding efforts of all contestants. The event not only celebrated global flavours but also garnered cross-cultural exchanges, reinforcing Kolkata’s position as a significant hub for culinary innovation and talent.
