Indian Institute of Hotel Management’s Arabian Food Festival Redefines Gastronomy in Kolkata




Kolkata, January 13 2024: Indian Institute of Hotel Management, Kolkata, hosted the first of its kind Arabian Food Festival at CII, City Centre 1, promising a captivating blend of culinary artistry and cultural revelry. This student-led initiative aimed to unveil a vibrant showcase of refreshing Arabian flavours to the city. The food festival was graced by the distinguished presence of dignitaries like Sanjeev Kapoor, a renowned figure in the culinary world along with Yemi Odanye,Deputy Head of Mission, UK; Zha Liyou, Consulate General of China to Kolkata and Pitchaya Lapatthamrong, Consulate General of Thailand to Kolkata.
In this extraordinary culinary endeavour, the festival sought to spotlight the essence of Arabian cuisine, drawing parallels between the rich culinary traditions of India and Arabia. The event unfolded as an exemplification to the dedication of the students of The Indian Institute of Hotel Management, featuring a meticulously curated menu by culinary experts that showcased the richness and diversity of Arabian gastronomy.
 The food festival not only celebrated the art of culinary craftsmanship but also served as a platform for appreciating the cultural amalgamation interwoven through food. Additionally, students graced the ramp in a thematic fashion show, followed by a captivating play that transported the audience back into the Arabian era. A mesmerising dance performance by the renowned dance troop Sapphire added to the cultural celebration.
The festival showcased an array of tempting Arabian delicacies including Mezze Platter , Shish Tawook , Sfeeha , Shirazi Salad, Babaganoush , Farkha with Barahat, Aushak , Zafrani Pulao, Pistachio Semolina Cake, Brown Dates Cake, Baklava. The food festival further emphasised the shared elements of spiciness, flavourfulness, and aromatic experiences that invigorate the senses.
