Australia showcases its mining capabilities to assist Indian mining companies on their path to net zero

Australia takes centre stage as the Focus country at the 10th edition of IME 2023 to highlight the Australian METS capabilities

Kolkata, 9 November 2023: Australia participated as a Focus Country at the 10th edition of the International Mining, Equipment and Minerals (IME) Exhibition 2023 in Kolkata between 6 – 9 November 2023.
Over 30 Australian companies along with Austmine – Australia’s largest mining industry body, Trade and Investment Queensland, Investment NSW and Western Australian Government are participating at the IME 2023 exhibition showcasing Australia’s global leadership position in Mining, Equipment, Technology and Services (METS).
The Australian participation at the exhibition featured a cross section of Australian METS firms such as consulting, exploration, mining IT, highly productive systems, beneficiation, recycling, quality, safety, Industry 4.0, and knowledge acquisition, that will assist the Indian mining industry towards their path to net zero.
Speaking about the Australian participation, Ms Denise Eaton, Trade and Investment Commissioner, Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade), said, "The Australian participation at IME 2023 offers an excellent opportunity to showcase Australia's world-class mining capabilities and collaborate with the Indian mining industry. Australian METS players will be the natural partners for Indian mining companies and also to support India's mission to amplify mining productivity and efficiency."
Australia has always been at the forefront of developing and implementing innovative practices and cutting-edge technologies. The harsh operating climate in Australia has focused the Australian resources and METS industry on sustainability. As we collectively strive to rise to the challenge of climate change, the Australian METS sector has increased this focus providing innovation and expertise to support the mining industry in becoming global sustainability leaders. The Australian METS sector has been pivotal in introducing sustainable solutions like The Smart Water Mine, The Community Mine and The Zero Carbon Mine.

As a part of Australian participation at IME 2023, Austrade in partnership with Women in Mining India, the Western Australian Government and Australia’s Curtin University organised a session on Diversity and Inclusion in Mining to promote an inclusive and diverse environment in the mining industry.

The Australian Trade and Investment Commission is available to facilitate the development of business linkages in the mining and resources sector between Australia and India.
