Swachhata Shramdaan – A Successful Cleanliness Drive, executed at Gandhi Ghat, Barrackpore


Kolkata, 3 October, 2023: The Enterprising Travel Agents' Association (ETAA) joined hands with the Yuva Tourism Clubs from Guru Nanak Institute of Hotel Management and JIS University for an impactful Swachhata Shramdaan (Cleanliness Drive) at the historic Gandhi Ghat, Barrackpore on Sunday.

The event was graced by dignitaries like Mountaineer Poulumi Basak and the renowned "Toilet Man of Bengal" Dr Arijit Banerjee, who lent their support to the cause and inspired participants with their insights.

As a part of the noble initiative, participants embarked on a journey through a guided heritage walk, uncovering the rich cultural heritage of Barrackpore. The students and volunteers tirelessly worked towards the mission of a cleaner India by conducting a thorough cleanliness drive at the nearby Ghats, making a substantial difference to the environment.Tourism stakeholders and student members of GNIHM and JIS University who are part of the the Yuva Tourism Club united in taking the "Travel for Life Pledge," committing to sustainable tourism practices for a greener and more responsible future. The artistic talents from both the colleges shone through vibrant street art installations, adding a touch of creativity to the surroundings.
Swachhata Shramdaan at Gandhi Ghat, Barrackpore, was a resounding success, showcasing the power of community engagement in promoting cleanliness, heritage preservation, and responsible tourism. It brought together like-minded individuals and organizations committed to making a positive impact on our environment and society.
