Tata Medical Center, Kolkata, renowned for its unwavering commitment to patient safety and hygiene, has a strict policy of only accepting fresh blood for transfusion. This often posed a significant challenge for Bhutanese cancer patients, as they may not have relatives or family members residing in Kolkata to provide blood donations. Recognising this dilemma, the Bhutanese government, along with JIS Group, has initiated a program to bridge this gap.
The students of GNIPST enthusiastically came forward to register themselves as voluntary blood donors for Bhutanese cancer patients at Tata Medical Center, Kolkata, where, according to the records, there are 91 Bhutanese cancer patients who are in desperate need of blood transfusions. Basic eligibility criteria for the donors require them to be in the age group of 18 to 50. A QR Code has been generated, scanning which shall guide the potential donors to the application site
On this occasion, Sardar Simarpreet Singh, Director, JIS Group, said, "We are extremely happy to be a part of this noble initiative. I thus extend my plea to everyone to come forward and donate blood and be a part of a collective effort to save lives and make a significant impact on the lives of these people who are in dire need".
