3 September 2023: The Appointment Committee of the Cabinet has approved the appointment of Smt Jaya Verma Sinha as Chairman & Chief Executive Officer, Railway Board on or after 1 September.
An Alumnus of Allahabad University, Smt Jaya Verma Sinha joined Indian Railway Traffic Service in 1988 and effectively managed various key posts in different Zonal Railways in her illustrious career including Divisional Railway Manager/Sealdah, Sr Deputy General Manager/South Eastern Railway etc.
She is ever remembered in Eastern Railway for her leadership ability during her tenure of service as Divisional Railway Manager/Sealdah from 4 January 2014 to 25 April 2016.
She also worked as Railway Adviser in the High Commission of India, Dhaka, Bangladesh for four years. The Maitree Express from Kolkata to Dhaka was inaugurated during her tenure in Bangladesh. Prior to her selection as Chairman & CEO, Railway Board, she was working as Member (Operations & Business Development)/Railway Board.
She is a woman of mesmerizing personality and has keen interest in Sports and other socio-cultural activities.
