Narula Institute of Technology Shines on NSS Day: Fostering Innovation and Environmental Awareness


Kolkata, 28 September 2023: Narula Institute of Technology celebrated NSS Day on 25th September , with an insightful session on 'Role of NSS: A Nation Building Approach for Holistic Development.' 

The event, graced by the esteemed presence of Vinay Kumar, Regional Director of the Department of Youth & Sports Affairs, Government of India, showcased the institute's unwavering commitment to youth empowerment and holistic development.
The highlight of the celebration was a Project Competition and Poster Exhibition on Waste Management, designed to encourage innovative and sustainable solutions to combat the ever-growing challenge of waste management. Students from diverse backgrounds and fields of study came together to present their unique projects, demonstrating their dedication to addressing this pressing environmental issue. The Project Competition witnessed enthusiastic participation from students who showcased their groundbreaking ideas and inventions aimed at revolutionizing waste management practices. Their projects covered a wide spectrum of solutions, including recycling innovations, waste reduction strategies, waste-to-energy systems, and smart waste disposal methods. The event provided a platform for young minds to express their creativity and deepen their understanding of environmental challenges. Some of the remarkable projects included smart bin solutions that harnessed the power of artificial intelligence to efficiently sort and segregate waste materials, composting systems seamlessly integrated into urban spaces, and cutting-edge blockchain-based waste tracking systems for enhanced monitoring of waste management processes.
 Vinay Kumar, Regional Director of the Department of Youth & Sports Affairs, Government of India, commended Narula Institute of Technology for its yearlong commitment to NSS initiatives and said, “The institute's efforts in areas such as tree plantation, cancer awareness campaigns, child labor eradication programs, observance of World Environment Day and World Thalassemia Day, visits to old age homes and orphanages, blood donation drives, medical camps, health and hygiene awareness initiatives, and active participation in the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan are events to be applauded.”
