Kolkata, 21 September, 2023: In the spirit of preserving tradition while embracing sustainability, BIG FM, India's leading radio network, proudly announced the return of its renowned eco-friendly initiative, 'BIG Green Durga,' for the year 2023. The event was organised at the Astor Hotel. This initiative aims to celebrate the essence of Durga Puja while advocating responsible environmental practices. BIG FM also announced their collaboration with the NGO "Gaccher Kotha, to plant over 500 saplings across residential welfare associations (RWAs) and colleges, further emphasising the importance of eco-consciousness. The event was graced by celebrated actress Priyanka Sarkar, Debrup Banerjee, Cluster Sales Head – East, 92.7 BIG FM, Biswajyoti Bandyopadhyay,Regional Programming Head, , 92.7 BIG FM along with a stellar team of popular RJs including RJ Koushik, RJ Pamela, RJ Sumanta, and RJ Ayantika who pledged their commitment by contributing old newspapers, jute cloths, and old clothes.
BIG FM, known for pioneering green initiatives such as BIG Green Ganesha and BIG Green Durga, aims to make a positive impact on the environment while preserving cultural traditions. The Durga idol, created from bio-degradable materials, will be installed at the Kund Area of City Centre 1 Mall on Soshti, 21st October 2023, allowing everyone to admire the beautiful, eco-friendly representation of Goddess Durga.
BIG FM's 'BIG Green Durga' campaign is dedicated to creating a more eco-friendly Durga Puja celebration. As part of the initiative, this year too, BIG FM intends to collect old newspapers, used jute materials, and other waste materials from various localities, schools, colleges, and offices across Kolkata. These collected materials will be transformed into a stunning Durga idol, crafted by skilled artisans with exquisite aesthetic appeal.
