7April: Netflix India’s upcoming series Tooth Pari: When Love Bites brings forth a unique love story promising a crazy, bloody delirious, clash of worlds ~On 20th April, enjoy a love bite you'll never forget, only on Netflix
Tooth Pari: When Love Bites, Netflix’s latest outing is not your typical run-of-the-mill romance story, and why should it be? Normal romance is outdated and normies are boring! It’s time to shake things up and enter a realm where both, vampires and humans, exist in the real world - only, one doesn’t know the other is walking amongst them. Rumi the vampire has broken one of her 'fangs' during a hunt. Roy, the fainthearted, boy-next-door 'human' dentist is confident he can fix it for her. Sparks fly, and one can't miss this love story, however impossible it may seem.
Set in Kolkata, this love story between Roy, the human dentist and Rumi, the bloody beautiful vampire, is packed with romance, mystery, human obstacles, and inhuman hurdles. What’s more? It’s World Oral Hygiene Day, and there’s no couple out there you want to root more for today than this one - where one half of the couple is bound to have tooth problems and the other who can always fix them!
In a stellar cast comprising popular dancer-turned-actor and heartthrob Shantanu Maheshwari (Doctor Roy) alongside Tanya Maniktala (Rumi), the girl-next-door turned unsuitable other-half of this couple, in the lead, Tooth Pari: When Love Bites also boasts of some popular, critically acclaimed actors. The romantic fantasy thriller series will also see Sikander Kher, Adil Hussain, Revathy, Saswata Chatterjee and Tillotama Shome amongst others.
Sharing her experience working in a completely new genre, Revathy says, “A lot of thought has always gone behind any project that I have chosen to take up and Tooth Pari: When Love Bites, was no exception. When I heard the script, I knew it was a genre I had never traversed into earlier. This was not a normal everyday story but something new that our director (Pratim Dasgupta) had envisioned and plotted in the city of joy ‘Kolkata.’”
“Exploring new and unusual formats is a challenge I love to undertake. In the series, I have portrayed a character that is strong willed, strong in her beliefs and ready to fight against all odds. I love playing such well etched out roles,” she adds.
Speaking of the love story, Tanya further added, “As Tanya when I read Roy and Rumi's scenes, Rumi came across as someone who is fiesty, like she has to get her way and Roy is someone who is timid in comparison to Rumi. He would be the person who would require the least amount of attention in a room as opposed to Rumi who draws eyes on her without even trying. So both of them trying to build a relationship knowing all the challenges, is very endearing. And that's the thing about love right, you don't really get to decide or choose the person you fall in love with or when you fall in love with.”
Shantanu Maheshwari shares his excitement about essaying his role as ‘Roy’ on the show, "Doing something you love, and discovering it along the way can really shake things up in your life, in a good way of course. This is what my character Roy is all about; at the outset everything’s normal and he’s the ideal dentist-son to his parents, but behind the scenes, it’s an adventure for him - pursuing his passion of cooking and romancing a vampire.”
