The Largest Trade Expo of Eastern India, Bengal Global Trade Expo opens its doors


Kolkata, 25th January:  Confederation of West Bengal Trade Association (CWBTA) along with West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation Limited (WBIDC) organizes a five-day long trade expo from 25th January to 29th January that includes stalls from different traders, a business conclave and placement drives. The trade expo was inaugurated on January 25, Wednesday at Biswa Bangla Mela Prangan (Milan Mela). The inauguration event witnessed dignitaries like Firhad Hakim, Hon’ble Minister, Department of Urban Development and Municipal Affairs, Govt of West Bengal & Mayor of Kolkata; Dr Shashi Panja, Hon’ble Minister, Department Industry, Commerce and Municipal Affairs Govt of West Bengal, and Sujit Bose, Hon’ble Minister, Department of Fire and Emergency Services, Govt of West Bengal and Dr H K Dwivedi, IAS, Chief Secretary, West Bengal. 

Bengal Global Trade Expo will include stalls from different sectors like Ceramic Tiles, Sanitary ware, Modular kitchen, Home Furnishings, LED Lights, Home Automation, Chemical Solution, Security Systems, TMT Bar, Plywood and others. India Innovation Impact & Entrepreneurship Conclave (IIIE Conclave) will be a major part of the trade expo. It is a flagship event that will be a platform for different startup businesses to showcase their products and services to a larger audience. The expo will witness active participation from about 100 startups, more than 75 investors, master-class by industry leaders, different panel discussions and more than 10 academic partners, through the exclusive conclave. The main attraction will be the placement opportunity to more than 300 students from different colleges. Another unique activity will be the ‘Pitch Battle’ between 100 startups which will start from second day of the expo. In the activity the startups will pitch their ideas and display the products to raise funds for their businesses which will help them secure their funding and partnerships. 

Commenting on the inauguration of the trade expo Sushil Poddar, President of CWBTA said, “Our BGTE journey has completed one year. This year the expo is bigger with around 500 stalls covering almost 28 sectors and for the first time will offer more than 300 placement opportunities to students. A trade expo like this will provide a huge expansion opportunity for small or big businesses. We seek to improve the trading value chain and market opportunities. This will be a further beneficial step for all of us in reintroducing ourselves to one another and navigating the new global economy.”
